The 36th
Annual Terry Fox Run will take place in London at Springbank Gardens,
on Wonderland Road (between Riverside Drive and Springbank Drive), on
Sunday, September 18. Registration is open from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00
p.m., and the official start is at 10:00 a.m.
Important points
about the Terry Fox Run are: 1)There is
no registration fee, and no minimum donation is required. 2) It is
not a timed, competitive event, but rather a family-oriented one. 3
Participants can walk, run, roller-blade, wheel-chair, push a stroller or bike
for the distance you choose (2 km, 5km, or 10 km) on the totally accessible
trail.
Prior to
the official start at 10:00 a.m., we will be having a presentation
by the Tai Chi club, followed by a demonstration by “Bringing Back Double Dutch”, the dynamic rope-skipping club, in
which the public is invited to participate.
Pledge
forms are available at Shoppers Drug Marts or Home Hardware stores, or
online at terryfox.org. Participants can
register online either
individually or with a team, and use the website (terryfox.org) to
fund-raise. The local run also has our own Twitter account, #terryfoxrunlond,
and Facebook page, Terry Fox Run London, for updates.
I hope
that you are able to mention the Terry Fox Run on your show or in your
medium, and help us to follow in the footsteps of a Canadian hero to fight
cancer. |
