估计是一楼的材料问题。我邻居的房子，白人，自己修建，像倒塌的房子一样，屋顶已经修好，但停止施工一年了。原因是一楼的材料有问题，不能继续下去了。目前正在和人打官司，保险公司也来人了，但不知代表谁。据说需要拆了重建。

至于边上的房子未到，可能是其他公司的房子。加拿大是一个小区，有很多公司在同时修建。

就算是有没有龙卷风，建筑工公司也会有其他理由，反正是谁买房子谁倒霉，他们的工作做了，甭管好坏，你不出钱就意味着国家出钱赔偿，明白了么？？？

房子倒的当天晚上，晚饭后附近居民纷纷到现场观看。听一位朋友讲，他们带着孩子去现场看时，看到一辆车开过来，一位年纪轻轻的老外放下车窗也跟着看，忽然大叫：“That is my house! Oh, MY GOD!”

I think the shear walls at first level in east-west direction are not strong enough. Acturally most of new houses in london have this problem. I am looking for a new house recently. I told a builder my concerns about this problem two weeks ago before this tragity happened. People like open concept design, this make the back side wide open by adding big window and sliding door, also the front is wide open because the garage door and main entrace door. Inside the house there are no shear walls. Structurally, we don't consider drywalls as shear wall, though drywalls help to resist the wind load. Also some builders don't provide strong tie or braces due to the price issue. The Ontario Building Code is acturally not a high standard for housing design. If we use Part 4 (Standard for bigger house or building) almost all house designs fail. The houses collapsed only at first floor, second floor was generally good. They collapsed from west to east. I guess the house at west collapsed first due to the strong wind from west to east, then it knocked down the rest houses one by one. When we design wind load we use high value for open terrain. At the west direction it is an open area, the first house got stronger wind. Also at this moment all drywalls had not been done yet. As I metioned we don't consider drywalls as shear walls, but they do help to resist some wind load for sure.

说的不错。一个房子如果楼上两层和车库有3000尺的面积，那么需要石膏板大约200片。每一片70磅重，所有的石膏板互相交接，并且固定在每一根木头上，既可以防震，也可以放风？？？？
我做木工和房屋维修快11年了，应该说是见过修过一些房子，还没有见到过被风吹倒的新房子，房子的质量肯定是有问题的，完成石膏板后，房子应该不会被风吹倒了，没有石膏板也不应该被吹倒的。
